ICE & HEAT
In the late spring we ventured to far north Alaska’s Inner Passage and in the early summer to Washington”s Palouse region, each distinctly different and majestic landscapes.
Spending two days in Glacier Bay National Park experiencing ice floes and calving glaciers, I was mesmerized by the sheer scale and other worldly nature of the place.
A month later, we traveled east of the mountains to the Palouse. Rolling hills as far as the eye can see are fertile ground for dry land farming of canola and wheat. The colors of chartreuse and a myriad of greens complemented by fields of wildflowers make the Palouse distinctive.
